The Better Letter was incorporated in October 2011. Before that, we had traded as Simon Fisher Letting & Management for well over 15 years.

In 2011, we rebranded and became ‘The Better Letter’. The new name reflects our commitment to raising standards of service for both landlords and tenants.


Much has changed in the rental industry in recent years, and today The Better Letter is one of just a handful of specialist independent letting agents left in Oxfordshire. We do not sell property.

Expertise and Knowledge: We are well-versed in local market conditions and pricing trends. This helps us to set achievable rental levels and ensure compliance with ever changing legal requirements.

Tenant Screening: We handle the whole tenant vetting process. Through a third party, we perform background checks, verify references and assess a tenant's financial suitability. This dramatically reduces the risk of problems further down the road.

Marketing and Advertising: Since 2005, we have exclusively used rightmove to advertise our landlord’s properties. We were one of the first agents locally to adopt the use of floorplans and professional photography to further promote our advertising . We still offer this service today, free of charge. We also make extensive use of the featured property facility on rightmove. The end result being that we find good tenants very quickly.

Property Maintenance: Through our back office we handle maintenance requests with the help of a network of trusted tradespeople and contractors. There is also a dedicated telephone number for out of hours emergencies. We continue to carry out inspections on a quarterly basis.

Rent Collection: We manage rent collection on behalf of the landlord, ensuring that rent is paid on time and following up on late payments if necessary. We create a useful barrier between the landlord and tenant.

Legal Compliance: We help landlords navigate the complex web of rental regulations, ensuring that they meet all legal requirements, such as safety standards and eviction procedures.

Time and Stress Savings: Managing a rental property can be time-consuming and stressful. Let us take on many of the day-to-day tasks, freeing up your time and reducing the stress associated with property management.

Tenant Relations: Part of our role is to act as intermediaries in tenant-landlord relationships. We handle disputes, requests, and negotiations, which can help maintain a professional and less emotionally charged environment.

Exit Management: When a tenancy ends, we manage the process of deposit returns.
